Professional Experience: Legal Officer, Deputy Division Director, Division Director of the Department of Treaty and Law, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (1985-1997); First Secretary, Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations (1997-1998); Counselor, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States of America (1998-1999); Counselor (2000-2003), Deputy Director-General (2003-2006), Director-General (2006-2011) of the Department of Treaty and Law, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; Consul General (Ambassadorial Rank) of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney (2011-2013); Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Singapore (2013-2015), Hungary (2015-2020); Visiting Professor, Department of International Law, China Foreign Affairs University (since 2007); Visiting Professor, School of International Law, China University of Political Science and Law (since 2008); Representative or Member of the Chinese delegation to the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly, the Meetings of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Assembly and Council of the International Seabed Authority for multiple times; Head of Chinese delegation multiples times for: bilateral and regional consultations for the law of the sea affairs with other States, for consultation of Legal Advisors of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Permanent Members of the UN Security Council, for consultations and negotiations of legal affairs and instruments under the auspices of the United Nations or other regional and bilateral mechanisms, for the annual sessions of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization.
